Group Head of Data & AI Ethics, Lloyds Banking Group
Dr Paul Dongha ensures Lloyds Banking Group’s data and IT systems are created in line with their ethical values and standards, from problem conception through to post-deployment. To achieve this, Paul creates new governance structure for ethics, extending and deepening data-lifecycles and development practices to ensure appropriate guardrails are in place for ethics. This is supported by a new suite of leading-edge technology components.
Prior to Lloyds Banking Group, he was a leading Researcher in AI Ethics at a large technology company where he was involved in cutting-edge research to create technologies which ensure AI systems generate fair, unbiased predictions and exhibit trustworthy behaviour. Paul has been involved is supporting and shaping AI policy and regulations through European-wide forums. He held various roles as a Senior IT Director and Global Programme Manager with +24 years’ experience and he led and managed multi-year IT programs in international financial organisations.
Prior to his commercial career, Paul studied for a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, (developing a model of rational behaviour for planning agents), researched experience and published papers. He also lectured undergraduates on natural language processing.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
