Sam Cannicott

Deputy Director, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology

Sam started his civil service career in New Zealand where he worked for Stats NZ and led a project focused on driving trustworthy data use. Upon returning to the UK he worked for the UK Government’s Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation where he led the projects team as Deputy Director.

Sam is currently providing maternity leave cover as a Deputy Director in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology where he heads-up the Government’s Office for Artificial Intelligence.
