Research Assistant, The Alan Turing Institute

Smera Jayadeva is a Research Assistant in Data Justice and Global Ethical Futures under the public policy programme. Her research responds to ethics and governance issues with the use of data-intensive technology and AI, including domain-specific use such as healthcare as well as data injustices globally.

She is part of the team working on the AI Ethics and Governance in Practice workbook series, part of the UK’s National AI Strategy. Smera leads the organisation of the Data Ethics Group, the Turing’s largest Interest Group, and is a host on the ‘too long didn’t read’ podcast which aims to simplify harms, challenges, and the regulation of AI technology for a wide audience.
