Tracey Brown

Director, Sense about Science

Tracey has been the director of Sense about Science since 2002. Under her leadership, the charity has turned the case for sound science and evidence into popular campaigns. It has launched important initiatives including AllTrials (a successful global campaign for the reporting of all clinical trial outcomes), Ask for Evidence (which engages the public in requesting evidence for claims), and the Transparency of Evidence initiative (an initiative aiming to ensure that the evidence behind policy is published).

Its publication of the first public guide to data science encouraged people to ask for more evidence about the reliability of AI and most recently Tracey has drafted European Commission guidance on using and communicating evidence from models. Tracey is an honorary professor at UCL department of Science, Technology and Engineering in Public Policy.
