Principal AI Technology Consultant, Bridge AI and the Information Commissioner's Office

Keivan is a BridgeAI Independent Scientific Advisor at The Alan Turing Institute. He is also Principal AI Technology Consultant at the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the nation’s Data Protection Authority and a Chair Professorship in Intelligent Networks at Lancaster University’s School of Computing and Communications. Additionally, he holds a distinguished position as a member of the Independent Scientific Advisory Committee at the prestigious Alan Turing Institute, where he plays a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of the UK government’s flagship £100 million BridgeAI project.

Professor Navaie is a leading authority in Data Science, Human-Centred Data Driven Systems, with a primary focus on safeguarding data privacy rights through his pioneering work in UK regulatory activities. His diverse research portfolio spans various domains, including Deep Learning, privacy-enhancing AI, AI Regulations, distributed and federated AI, connectivity resilience in cyber-physical systems and the IoT, applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence, cognitive communications networks, and cryptosystems.

As a Principal Investigator, Professor Navaie has secured over £5 million in leading research grants from EU and UK-based agencies, highlighting his dedication to advancing cutting-edge research. He actively contributes to the academic community through editorial roles at IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and the IEEE Technical Committee on Cyber-Physical Systems.

Beyond academia, Professor Navaie plays a vital role in evidence-based policy-making, collaborating with prestigious organizations such as the United Nations’ International Telecommunications Union (ITU), EU Environment Agency, the Information Commissioner’s Office, and the EU Parliament.

Engaging with industry, Professor Navaie provides technical consultancy to major players in communication technology, including HUAWEI, Dolby, BT, and various UK-based SMEs. He is also a member of the BSI standards committee on AI standardization and The Alan Turing Institute.

For his outstanding contributions, Professor Navaie is recognized as a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), a Chartered Engineer in the UK, and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
