Senior AI Consultant, Energy Systems Catapult

Stephen is a Senior AI Consultant at the Energy Systems Catapult and a visiting researcher at the Mathematical Institute at Oxford University. Stephen’s role focuses on helping to support the energy sector as it moves towards a digitalised Net Zero world. Recent work has included the AI for Decarbonisation’s Virtual Centre for Excellence (ADViCE) project, AI risks for energy networks, data science skill in the energy sector, academic-industrial impact, and data ethics.

He has also recently worked on the Automatic Asset Register programme, the Energy Efficient Networks project, and the Energy Digitalisation Taskforce. Prior to joining the Catapult in 2018, Stephen was a postdoctoral researcher at Oxford University where he researches data science in energy systems, particularly load forecasting methods. He received his PhD from the University of Reading in 2011 in Mathematical Meteorology.
